Minor Consent Laws

Medical Treatment: In California, minors who are at least 12 years old have the right to consent to medical care related to the prevention or treatment of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including HIV/AIDS. Additionally, minors of any age may consent to medical services for the diagnosis and treatment of certain reproductive health issues, such as contraception, pregnancy, and abortion.

Mental Health Services: Minors aged 12 and older have the right to seek and consent to outpatient mental health treatment without parental permission. However, there are some exceptions, such as when a mental health professional determines that the minor poses a danger to themselves or others.

Drug and Alcohol Treatment: Minors who are at least 12 years old can consent to receive drug and alcohol treatment services without parental consent.
