Athletic Director's Message

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Le Grand High School Athletics!  This is an exciting time to be part of the Bulldogs Athletic Family.  We are excited about the direction and leadership of our teams as we continue to move towards academic and athletic success.

At Le Grand High School athletics are an integral part of the high school experience.  High School athletics have the ability to unify a campus, and community, as student-athletes take to the field, court, and track in pursuit of athletic excellence.  The athletic programs at LGHS would not be able to operate without the hard work of our coaches, teachers, administration, custodial and grounds crew, and office staff.  Most importantly success begins with supportive families at home.

The role a parent plays in a student’s education is vital. The support parents show their children at home often manifests itself in how successfully students embrace opportunities presented to them at school and in life.

We believe that trustworthiness, reliability, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship is lifelong values taught through athletics. These values are the backbone of good sportsmanship and good character. With them, your student’s spirit of competition can thrive, fueled by honest rivalry, courteous relations, and graceful acceptance of the results.

As parents of student-athletes at our school, your goals should be to:

  • Realize that athletics are part of the educational experience and the benefits of involvement go beyond the final score of a game
  • Encourage our students to perform their best in competition, just as we would with their classwork
  • Participate in positive cheers that encourage our student-athletes, and discourage any cheers that would redirect that focus in a negative direction—including taunting and intimidating opponents, fans, or officials;
  • Learn, understand and respect the rules of the game, the officials who administer them, and their decisions;
  • Respect the task our coaches face as teachers and support them as they strive to educate our youth
  • Respect our opponents as student-athletes, and acknowledge them for striving to do their best
  • Develop a sense of dignity and civility under all circumstances.

Please come out and support all of our athletic teams this year. Our student-athletes have worked hard to prepare for their contests and thrive off of the support that our fans provide.  Be encouraging and uplifting to the BULLDOGS STUDENT-ATHLETES, and be equally polite and gracious to our opponents.

Go Bulldogs!!!!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Priddell
