Clash of the classes: Winter Olympics 2012

BY: Rebecca Bigelow

The annual games are back again! Winter Olympics will take place this Friday and everyone better be ready for the competition. From Tug of War to the Food Eating Contest, students are pulling together their strategies and best teammates to call themselves the Winter Olympic Champs! These Winter Olympics take place every year and classes compete against each other through energizing games and sportsmanship. At the end of the day, the class with the most points will be the Champion!
The Winter Olympics are something that students look forward to each year. Because our school is so small, we are fortunate enough to be able to participate in such an exciting event. It enables students to be rewarded for hard work and gives them an opportunity to show their class spirit. The games are on and the classes are bringing their all!

Le Grand FFA puts on energetic rally for National FFA Week

BY: Rebecca Bigelow

By: Steffani Fausone, Le Grand FFA Chapter Reporter

Le Grand-  On Friday, February 24th, Le Grand FFA hosted a rally for the entire school to celebrate National FFA Week. The rally consisted of upbeat country music and fun, entertaining activities for the students to participate in.

By officers collecting money in piggy banks assigned to certain teachers throughout the week, the teacher whose piggy bank had the most money had to kiss a chicken at the rally. All the proceeds will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Other activities at the rally were games like the Mud Pie Worm Find, Dairy Bowl, and the Hay Bucking Contest. In the Mud Pie Worm Find, a person from each class competed to find the most gummy worms in a chocolate pie without using their hands. “Seeing the chocolate all over their faces while determined to find the gummy worms was absolutely priceless,” stated Giuliana Marchini, Chapter President.

The Dairy Bowl was a food-eating contest between the classes with only dairy products. Four people from each class were chosen and it was quite competitive. The last game was the Hay Bucking Contest, where partners from each class had to move bales of hay from one end of the gym to the other.

All in all, the rally was an exciting way to celebrate National FFA Week. It was a way to bring the whole school together while learning about the FFA through fun activities. The FFA continues to inform others of the importance of agriculture, so why not make it fun!
